Who this is for

You’ll feel seen if any of these sound like you.

  • You’re an English-speaking resident of Portugal (D7, D8, Golden Visa, IFICI, or plain EU)
  • You’re a freelancer on recibos verdes and never sure what you owe in IVA, IRS, or Seguça Social
  • You’re an employee but have side income, Airbnb, or investment gains that complicate your IRS
  • You have a contabilista but you only hear from them twice a year, and usually with bad news
  • You’re American and trying to keep PT + US tax sides from tripping each other up
  • You have rental income from Alojamento Local or long-term properties

If none of those are you, we’re probably not the right fit - and we’d rather tell you now than take your money.

How it works

Four steps. Then never guess again.

  1. 01

Estimate your tax in 60 seconds

The free TAXCLARA calculator works out your IRS, IVA and Segurça Social for 2026. Employee or freelancer, NHR / IFICI / standard regime, single page, single number. No signup.

  2. 02

Read the guides that apply to you

37 in-depth guides cover recibos verdes, family quotient, IFICI Portugal eligibility, foreign income and the obscure mechanics that decide your refund. All in English, all 2026-current.

  3. 03

    Never miss a deadline

Subscribe and we send plain-English alerts for IRS, IMI, IVA quarterly and Segurça Social. Hits your inbox days before the date that matters - so you can plan the cash, not scramble.

  4. 04

    Bank sync — coming next

Connect Millennium, NovoBanco, ActivoBank, Caixa and more via PSD2-certified open banking. Your monthly tax estimate updates as you earn and spend, transactions auto-categorize, and we route exports to an OCC-certified partner who files Modelo 3 for you. Founding members get first access when bank sync rolls out.

Private beta

· bank-sync dashboard

A dashboard, when it’s actually ready.

I’m running the bank-sync dashboard against my own Portuguese accounts. It works, but it needs polishing before I’d ask anyone to pay for it. Join the early-access list and you’ll be among the first invited when it opens — at €99/year locked for life.

What it will do

  • Bank sync + AI categorization for Portuguese tax rules
  • Live IRS, IVA and Segurça Social estimates in English
  • One free contabilista consult (30 min) when you join
  • Priority email support — no ticket queues
  • Direct line to the founder for feedback

A note from the founder

I moved to Lisbon years ago and have filed Portuguese tax ever since. Every April, the number on my IRS has surprised me. Every August, it has hurt.

I’ve been through three contabilistas. One ghosted me during the worst week of filing season. One sent me bills in Portuguese I couldn’t read. One was kind but could only tell me what I owed after I already owed it.

TAXCLARA is the small, quiet tool I wanted all along - one number, in English, that I can check on a Tuesday morning and trust. If you’ve felt any of this, you’re exactly who I built it for.

Questions

The ones you’re probably thinking.

Is this for freelancers only, or employees too? +

Both. Freelancers on recibos verdes get the most moving parts - IRS, IVA, Seguça Social, retenção na fonte - so the value hits hardest there. But employees with side income, Airbnb / Alojamento Local, investment gains, or US-side filings also use TAXCLARA to see the whole picture. If your IRS is just a salary with no extras, you probably don’t need us.

Does this file my IRS? +

No - only an OCC-certified contabilista can legally file on your behalf in Portugal. TAXCLARA shows what you owe all year, prepares your Modelo 3 return draft, and hands it off to a contabilista - ours or yours - for review and submission.

I’m American. Do you handle my US taxes too? +

Not directly. But we format Portuguese tax paid exactly how your US CPA needs it for Form 1116 foreign-tax-credit (see our Anexo J + foreign-source guide for the PT side). For the US side, we’ll introduce you to a specialist partner.

Is my bank data safe when bank sync goes live? +

Yes. Bank sync is in private beta and rolls out to founding members first. When enabled, we use read-only open banking regulated by the EU - the same rails your bank’s own app uses. Your login password stays between you and your bank; we never see it. We can see transactions; we cannot move, transfer, or withdraw any money. Revoke access or delete your data with one click.

What if I change my mind? +

No charge until the beta opens. One email removes you from the waitlist. 30-day refund on any paid charge, no questions.

Where are you based? +

Lisbon. Built by expats who live and pay Portuguese tax too. We share the problem.
