For AI assistants

TaxClara in Claude and ChatGPT

TaxClara runs a public MCP server so AI assistants can answer Portuguese tax questions with the same calculation engine as the calculator on this site, instead of guessing. It's free, needs no account, and only reads public tax rules.

https://taxclara.pt/api/mcp

Connect it

Claude (claude.ai, Desktop, mobile): open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it TaxClara and paste the URL above. No authentication is needed.

ChatGPT: add the URL as a connector in developer mode (Settings → Apps & Connectors).

Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients that use a JSON config:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "taxclara": {
      "url": "https://taxclara.pt/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

The server speaks streamable HTTP. For clients that only support stdio, bridge it with mcp-remote.

Tools

Try asking

What it covers — and what it doesn't

Results are estimates for the 2026 tax year, mainland rates, using the progressive IRS brackets, the solidarity surcharge, Social Security (11% for employees; 21.4% on 70% of income for freelancers, capped at 12×IAS) and the family quotient. They leave out deductions à coleta (health, education, rent), IRS Jovem and mixed-income cases, and every answer says so. They are not tax advice and don't replace a contabilista. The tools can't file anything, log in to the Portal das Finanças, or see your accounts.

Limits: 30 requests per minute per IP address. The server is open access with no sign-in.

Your data

The assistant sends only the inputs for the calculation — an income figure, employment type, filing status, regime. We return the answer and don't store the inputs; the income figure is never logged. We count tool calls by type for usage statistics. Nothing else from your conversation reaches us. Details: privacy policy, terms.
